The 4th and 5th graders visited the Dakota Discovery Museum, National Guard Armory and Corn Palace. Their favorite parts were sampling MRE meals our soldiers eat in the field, the murals and the artifacts at the museum! Thank you Sgt. Steinle and Troy Magnuson for the tours!

The 4th graders are studying gravitational energy, speed and collisions using a paper track and marbles.

Pre-K students are learning the difference between Living and Non-living things. We compared gummy worms and earth worms today using our 5 senses, oddly enough none of them wanted to taste an earth worm! Ha! We created a comparison chart as a class to demonstrate how scientists take notes to remember the details of their experiments.
When we had completed the activity, students were able to take the earth worms outside to be placed in the grassy area at school. Some friends LOVED the worms, some friends did not!

The 7th Graders went to the Corn Palace this morning for Camp Med, an event sponsored by the South Eastern SD Area Health Education Center. Here they visited booths that introduced them to a variety of careers available in the Healthcare field. They got to see a cow's heart and lungs, hear from a professional mental health therapist, check their hands for bacteria and germs, and many other activities. They also got a goodie bag filled with fidgets and more specific information about the Health Career Cluster. It was a good experience!

These 5th grade girls were showing off their acrobatic abilities at recess this morning.

The elementary is celebrating the last 26 days of school with an ABC Countdown! Today is G: Game Day! We brought games from home to play with our classmates. This is a great way to practice social skills like taking turns, following rules, playing fairly, and losing gracefully.

More lost and found items!

Due to the difficult conditions forecasted for Friday, April 19th, we have decided that we are not going to host the Greenway Relays on that date. We were not scheduled to have school on that date, but since we have missed 4 snow days already, SCHOOL WILL BE IN REGULAR SESSION ON FRIDAY, APRIL 19th with a 2:00 dismissal. If you have already made travel plans for that day and this creates a hardship for your children or your family, please give the school a call and we will work with you. Thank you!

We look forward to seeing you at the Pre-K and Kindergarten Round-Up.

Look at the beautiful mural that our very own Isabella Gortmaker created for Mr. Schaffer's social science room! Turned out fabulous!
