Our first day of school is tomorrow, August 15th. Grades 9-12 schedules will be availbale to be picked up before school. Grades 6-8 will be directed to their first period class where they will receive their classs schedules. Grades 6-12 will go to their first period for attendance and then report to the gym for a short welcome back. Elementary students should report to the lunchroom and they will be escorted to their classrooms. Thank you!

Gym Floors Update: The TYCC gym is open for walking on Monday and regular use on Tuesday.. The downtown gym will be open for walking on Tuesday and regular use on Wednesday. Thanks for your patience during the refinishing process!
An update on the gym floors, the refinishing took a little longer than expected. Both gym floors are being refinished and are closed until Monday. Thank you for your cooperation.
Lost and found items from the girls locker room - please claim by August 16th or they will be donated.

Back to school night for elementary is Monday 8/12/2024 from 6-7:30 - start in the TYCC(gym) and end the evening with grilled hot dogs, ice cream and chips cooked and served by the School Board Members.

The 50th HS Honor Choir & Reunion Choir concert is here! Sabrina has been rehearsing for the past week at USF for the concert at the Washington Pavilion tonight (link to be shared at a later date). So proud of this young lady and excited to sing with her later tonight!

In order to meet state requirements the Mount Vernon School has had some price increases. Now is also a good time to add to your child's lunch account. We accept cash or check and these can be either dropped off at the office or mailed to Mount Vernon School - PO Box 46, Mount Vernon, SD 57363. Please review the following prices for meals:
Breakfast - PK-12 - $2.25
Lunch - PK-5 - $3.10; 6-8 - $3.40; 9-12 - $3.40
Adult - $5.00
Senior Meals - $3.00
Free and Reduced Applications are also available in the office, on the website or email me

We have lots of other work to do at the field as well and will take any helpers we can get. We are getting close to completion!
